Stenströms Knitwear
A lot of people think of knitwear as something that's strictly for winter, but in the summer when the sun has set after a long, hot day at the sea or beach, it can feel great to throw a silky cashmere jumper over sun kissed shoulders. Our wide range of knitwear offers something for every season. You'll find everything from classic, warm cardigans and jumpers to luxurious capes with gold buttons, to fine and lightweight jumpers in merino wool, cashmere and wool, offering you comfort and style.
What style of knitwear should I choose?
Stenströms has many different styles of luxury knits to choose from. If you are someone who often swings between hot and cold, we want to recommend our jumpers and cardigans with buttons or belts at the waist. Unbutton the buttons or tie the sash at the back and wear it open over a top or shirt. A thin merino wool jumper is also a versatile piece that works well over a shirt.
What is the difference between a poncho and a cape?
Capes usually open at the front and sometimes have a collar, while ponchos are pulled over the head. Stenströms’ cape is a timeless, classy piece made of the finest merino wool and available in several colours with gold buttons. Wear it as a jacket on cool summer evenings, or as a transitional piece in the autumn and spring.
Knitwear for every season
Stenströms’ knitwear is made from different types of wool, which is a fantastic material that is both warm and breathable, so it’s suitable for all seasons. A lightweight, soft cashmere or merino wool crewneck or v-neck jumper can be used as an undershirt when it's really cold, or as a warming layer over a shirt or under a vest. A cape or a poncho is an airy but warming garment that works all year round. Our cardigans are versatile because they go with everything and can be worn unbuttoned or buttoned up.
How to remove bobbles from cashmere
Pilling occurs naturally on all knitted garments when the knitted surface is rubbed against itself or other surfaces. Bobbles can easily be removed with a wool comb. Never use a razor or scissors as you can damage the fibres and actually make pilling worse. After washing, lay your garment on a flat surface and then comb in one direction to gently remove the bobbles. Afterwards, your garment will look as fresh as the day you bought it. You can find out wool comb here.
How do you best care for merino, cashmere and wool knitwear?
Taking proper care of your knitted garments will make them last longer and keep them looking new. Try airing your wool garments instead of washing them. Sometimes leaving the garment in the open air overnight works wonders. Wash as rarely as possible as this wears out the fibres. Always follow the washing instructions on the garment, use wool shampoo and conditioner and wash on the machine's wool cycle or in cold water. Shape the garment when wet and let it dry flat.
The classic cardigan – here's how to style it
A merino wool or cashmere cardigan with a v-neck or crewneck in a neutral colour is a timeless classic and makes a very versatile piece. Style it with a skirt and heeled shoes for a sophisticated feminine look, with wide-leg trousers and trainers for a casual, off-duty look, or with suit trousers, a shirt and a scarf for a day at the office.
