Outerwear

Our garments are designed to last. With the right care, you can extend the life of your favorite pieces, keeping them in perfect condition season after season. Here, we’ve gathered our best tips on how to wash, dry and store your outerwear in different materials.

Coats & jackets in boiled wool

Wash: For our jackets and coats made of boiled wool, professional dry cleaning is recommended. The scale-like structure of the wool fibers and the natural fat lanolin, that encapsulates the fibers, make the surface of the material dirt-repellent. Air your garment after use or brush off dust and fuzz with a clothes brush if necessary. This is more friendly for both the garment and the environment. You may also freshen the garment up using a steamer to restore its shape and luster.

Store: Outerwear made of boiled wool can be stored hanging, but as short time as possible to avoid the risk of being stretched out by its own weight or the hangers to leave marks. It’s preferable to store the garment lying flat in a garment bag when not in use during the warmer season. Keep pests away by placing cedarwood near your wool garments. Cedarwood gives a lovely scent to the wardrobe and is disliked by moths and carpet beetles. Make sure not to place the cedarwood directly on the garments, as it can leave stains.

Quilted vests

Wash: Read the instructions on the care label carefully, as they may vary depending on the material of the vest’s outer fabric. For most, professional dry cleaning is recommended. Regardless, the vest should rarely be washed to keep its filling as light and fluffy as when you first bought it. Instead, air the garment and wipe off spots with a cloth. Sometimes, oil stains on the surface of the fabric can be treated with a remover that doesn’t penetrate the fibers. Keep in mind that the removal product must be carefully chosen according to the material of the vest’s outer fabric.

Store: The vest is best stored on a clothes hanger. It’s also a good idea to keep the vest in a garment bag if it’s not being used all year round, to protect it from dust and pests.

Suede jackets

Store: Always store your suede jacket hanging on a well-fitting clothes hanger, in a cool and dry space. Avoid direct sunlight, as this might cause bleaching.

Impregnation: Before you start wearing your suede jacket, we recommend impregnating the garment with an impregnation spray specifically for suede leathers. Always try the impregnation product first on a small surface of the garment, to make sure it doesn’t leave stains. This process will make it water repellent, but we still recommend you avoid wearing the suede jacket in rain, as this might cause stains. If wet, dry flat or hang on a hanger in room temperature.
